Making Connections

A recent article in Organic Spa Magazine has us thinking about making human connections in a world that is dominated by digital content consumption. When was the last time you connected with someone sitting next to you at the coffee shop or at the market by striking up a conversation? If we’re honest with ourselves, it has probably been a while. We are so consumed with our social media or what we’re watching on Netflix to be bothered to actually talk to someone, especially someone who you don’t know.

The author of the article that got us thinking about this topic wrote about how making a connection with the person sitting next to him on an airplane led him to explore a new city and make a new friend. (You can read the full article here.) We want to make it a goal to connect with someone new every week, even if it’s just someone in line in front of you at Starbucks. If you think about it, one person is not a lot! And you’ll never know what new experiences and friendships you may get out of connecting with a person. We think that these connections can really enrich our lives outside of our jobs, or daily routines, and technology.

Let us know in the comments below if you’ve ever had a fun or interesting experience from striking up a conversation with a stranger! We’d love to hear from you.
