Schedule time in your calendar to stop what you’re doing, take a few deep breaths and ‘recalibrate’ your emotional barometer.

  1. Quit thinking about what you “should” be doing.

All the “shoulds” of the holidays and unrealistic expectations are many times what causes a lot of stress and conflict – “we should all get along” or “everyone should be home for Christmas morning”. If you let go of how things “should” be and take the season as it comes, many stressors might go away.

  1. Create New Traditions

Sometimes traditions outgrow themselves and its time for new ones! Going along from #2, don’t be a slave to a tradition that just doesn’t work for you and your family anymore just because you “should”.

  1. Give thoughtful gifts or experiences.

The best presents don’t always cost the most money, but could be a thoughtful thing or experience that you know the receiver would enjoy. Maybe a gift certificate for a massage could do the trick… Click here to get one now! https://spagregories.boomtime.com/lgift

  1. Express more gratitude.

Expressing gratitude or paying a compliment to a loved one (or stranger for that matter) takes little effort on your part but might make someone’s day, and brings a smile to both of your faces.

  1. Have fun!

The holidays are supposed to be fun! So dress up in crazy holiday clothes, have a family talent show, or throw a family game night!

Whatever you do, or don’t do, this holiday season, just remember that it’s a wonderful time to be around family and friends, and be thankful for the people in our lives.
