How to cure a food coma!

How to cure a food coma!

Around this time tomorrow a lot of us will be suffering from the dreaded Thanksgiving food coma after having stuffed ourselves full with turkey, gravy, and all the fixings. Here’s a few tips to cure that food coma so you’ll be able to function for the rest of the night (or just have enough room and energy to eat desert!).

  1. Drink a lot of water

A big Thanksgiving meal can temporarily raise your blood sugar level, but it will plummet soon after, which is when that food coma feeling kicks in. Drinking a lot of water will help your body break down what you ate, and you won’t feel bloated for so long.

  1. Walk it off

A light walk can speed your digestion and make it so your blood sugar doesn’t spike and drop so quickly so that your energy level stays normalized.

  1. Chew on a few roasted fennel seeds

Chew on 10-15 fennel seeds! They’ll help your body create more digestive enzymes which will help you process your food more effectively. You can find them in the spice aisle at the grocery store. Put them in a pan over medium heat for two minutes, stirring occasionally. They should not turn brown.
