Spa and Salon Gregorie's to host Massage-a-thon and Cut-a-thon to support Komen Foundation and Komen Orange County Race for the CureŽ

Discounted Health and Beauty services to benefit fight against breast cancer.

NEWPORT BEACH, California - August 16, 2001 - Spa and Salon Gregorie's is getting "hands on" in the fight against breast cancer by hosting the third annual Massage-a-thon and Cut-a-thon for the Cure. Salon and Spa Gregorie's hope to raise over $10,000 for The Susan G.Komen Breast Cancer Foundation in order to further their efforts in breast cancer research, education, screening, and treatment.

The Massage-a-thon will be held Sunday, September 23, 2001 at the Tenth Annual Komen Orange County Race for the CureŽ. At the race, the Massage-a-thon pavilion will be located in the vendor expo behind the Pacific Life Building at 700 Newport Center Drive. Massages regularly $80 per hour, will be only $1 a minute at the race.

The Cut-a-thon will be held September 30, from 9am -3pm, at Salon Gregories at 200 Newport Center Drive. Stylists at the Salon will be on hand to provide services for racers and non-racers alike at discounted prices. Haircuts, customarily $60+, will be offered at $25 per cut, Blow-dries, customarily $40, will be offered at $15. Reservations for the Cut-a-thon are recommended and can be made by calling the Salon (949) 644-6671.

Breast cancer is a harsh reality to Spa Gregorie's principal, Angela Cortright, which has motivated her to pledge time, effort, and money to the Komen Foundation Race for the CureŽ. Cortright's mother was diagnosed with breast cancer 5 years ago and has undergone extensive treatment in combating the disease. In addition, her young cousin and an aunt both succumbed to breast cancer.

"Everywhere I look, it seems someone is being touched by breast cancer in some way. I've lost 2 family members to breast cancer and my own mother is a 5 year survivor. This is one cause I am passionate about. I am glad that we are able to continue our tradition of raising funds for the Komen Foundation through our annual Massage-a-thon and Cut-a-thon for the Cure.
